- In detail
Essential cedar oil is obtained by steam distillation of crushed bark, wood, young shoots and cedar needles.
Cedarwood oil is a clear liquid with a pronounced resinous aroma with woody and nutmeg notes. The oil can be either yellowish or amber in color, or orange or brown.
The composition of Siberian cedar essential oil contains more than 50 biologically active compounds in a balanced ratio, which determines its healing properties. Among them are terpenes (zedrenol, thuyopsen, etc. ), phytoncides, alkaloids, tannins, camphor, carotene, a large amount of vitamins C and E, and many useful trace elements.
It is used in medicine, in perfumery.
Storage conditions and shelf life
Since coniferous essential oils decompose under the influence of sunlight and oxidize under the influence of oxygen, it is necessary to store cedar essential oil in a dark place (preferably in a glass container) under a tightly closed lid. Storage temperature from 0 to + 25C.
If all these conditions are met, the oil can be stored for up to two years.
