The carpet for fight or a wrestling mat (a wrestling tire) consists of PVC fabric (tire) of usually Belgian or Korean production with a density of 650 g/m2 and wrestling mats of PPE which today, make from physically sewed penopolietilen.
The main mission of a wrestling mat consists in softening falling of the athlete and to prevent getting injured.
Modern mats of PPE (penopolietilen) have a number of advantages before mats of an outdated sample consisting from FRSF (foam rubber of secondary foaming):
1. The price of a mat of PPE is about 20-30% cheaper.
2. The weight of a mat of PPE is 4 times less, than at PVV.
3. The mat of PPE does not absorb moisture and dust and is hypoallergenic.
4. When bending a mat of PPE in half, comes back to a starting position.
5. Service life is opaque PPE – 10 years (twice more, than PVV serve)

Earlier the most various fabrics, such as tarpaulin or a canvas were for this purpose used. Today the most widespread material for these purposes is PVC fabric which is called JUDO fabric.
PVC-fabric represents a multilayered polyvinylchloride cloth where between two layers of polymer the reinforced grid from a mylar cord settles down.
Such fabric conforms to the most tough standards, it is rather strong, easily washes with use of special detergents, coloring of fabric is steady against long influence of light and does not lose the brightness and a saturation. The polyvinylchloride cloth has rather long service life and usually not less than 10 years even serve at high intensity of trainings and competitions.
Fastening of a covering of a wrestling mat is carried out in several ways. In the first case on edge of a covering of a carpet special cringles through which the fixing cord or a rope with a podvorachivaniye of edges of a covering under mats is passed and drags on are made. The second option of fastening provides existence on edge of a carpet of "flypapers" by means of which fastening is carried out. The third option of fixture provides fastening under a level. What way of fixture would not be applied, the fixture has to provide uniform stretching of a covering, without folds and distortions.
The modern carpet for single combats consists of soft mats 0,02-0,05 m thick and the top covering, with the marking applied on it. The standard size of a carpet 12 x 12 m is applied to free-style and Greco-Roman wrestling, also to sambo. Consists of two internal circles and the begun to whirl zone. The internal circle of yellow color is the main wrestling zone (diameter of 7 m). The following circle of red color – a precautionary zone (diameter of 9 m). And the begun to whirl zone of blue color is considered a penalty area.
The carpet for judo has the same sizes of 12 x 12 m, but a little with other marking. Its difference that instead of round zones as in a classical wrestling mat, carpet zones for judo are noted by squares, a yellow square 7 x 7 m, a red square 9 x 9 m and a blue penalty area.
Wrestling mats use for all types of single combats, such as, judo, sambo, the manumission and Greco-Roman wrestling (Greco-Roman wrestling), etc.
