Coarse calico was brought to old times from the East. According to the Explanatory dictionary of V. Dahl, earlier it and was called Asian, Persian, Bukhara fabric. Also coarse calico was known as a paper canvas and to burmet.
The linen way of an interlacing by means of which coarse calico is made differs in the fact that fabric has identical number of the main and weft overlappings from front and seamy side, i.e. are two-front. For this reason, coarse calico has a plain opaque surface and identical appearance of the front and back parties. Besides, providing the greatest number of communication between threads of a basis and a duck, the calico weave allows to produce the strongest fabrics.
Thus, coarse calico is easy, but at the same time strong fabric. It possesses a low sminayemost, is easily erased and well ironed. At last, coarse calico is made of 100% of cotton and consequently is natural and well air-permeable fabric.
Thanks to the properties and characteristics - durabilities, ease, good ergonomics, environmental friendliness, - coarse calico is considered one of the best fabrics for bed linen. And modern technologies of drawing stuffing allow to express the most courageous creative decisions in fabric, to receive bright, saturated and resistant colors.
