Description
Chalk — white rock, soft and friable, consists almost only of the smallest grains of a cryptocrystalline mineral of calcite (a natural carbonate of the calcium) making up to 99% of lump.
Chalk — a necessary component of the chalk overlay paper used in polygraphy for the printing of the qualitative illustrated editions. Ground chalk is widely applied as cheap material to whitewashing, coloring of fences, walls, borders, to protection of trunks of trees against solar burns.
