| Dressing via Jig |
| Dressing via jig method is one of the oldest methods in ore dressing and coal washing methods which are based on the density difference. The first use of the jigs began in 1870�s. Basically, the method can be defined as ; � the lamination of the materials according to their density in a liquid media that moves periodically and vertically in a case with a meshed base.� The essential in this method is that the density difference is high between the materials which we wish to separate and that they are freed in comparatively large sizes. The media used in jigs are usually water, occasionally air and rarely a heavy liquid. The jigs that were used especially for large sized ores in early years lost their importance with the advancement in ore dressing technology. They are still used especially in coal washing processes and dressing of large sized ores. |

| The separation of minerals in jigs is provided through a pulsation movement which stimulates movement in the media and on the screen in jig basement. Here, the aim is to open the concentrated material on the screen by enlarging and to enable the pass of the higher density and tiny particles through the gaps of the formed bearing by controlling this opening and to enable the lamination of the large and high density particles on the bearing. In other words, it is the provision of lamination of different density minerals in the material fed into the jig through vertical (lift and force) movement stimulated to the media as the heaviest minerals below and the lightest minerals on top on the jig basement (screen). Meanwhile, during the upwards (force) movement of the bearing on the screen, the large sized and high density minerals in the feeding product pass under the screen through opened bearing material. If the media is vibrant during jigging process, fixed screen is used. If the media is static, a vertical movement screen could also be used. |
