The preventer is the basic working element of a set of the protivovybrosovy equipment established in the mouth of a well.

The main function of the preventer is a sealing of the mouth of an oil well in an emergency at repair work or construction of a well. Sealing of an oil well prevents its open spouting of oil and consequently prevents pollution of the nature or emergence of the fire. When conducting drilling operations the air defense installation is an indispensable condition.
