Description
The solar battery — the household term used in informal conversation or the unscientific press. Usually the term "solar battery" is meant as several integrated photo-electric converters (photo cells) — the poluprovodnikovykhustroystvo which are directly transforming solar energy to direct electric current.
Unlike the solar collectors making material heat carrier heating, the solar battery makes a neposredstvennoelektrichestvo. Though, for production of electricity from solar energy also solar collectors are used: collected thermal energy can be used also for production of electricity. The large solar installations using the high-concentrated sunlight as energy for actuating thermal, etc. cars (steam, gas-turbine, thermoelectric, etc.) are called Solar generators (GEES).
