Rye - an important food crop, but less exacting to soil and climatic conditions. It is frost-resistant and drought-resistant crop which yields a low but stable harvest and grows better on poor soil, than the majority of grain crops
Under rye yu 0,5 - 0,7 million hectares are busy, at average productivity of 20 c/hectare. Ukraine receives about 1,3 million t. this culture.
Grain of rye contains: a squirrel - 8-19, carbohydrates - 67%, fats - 1%. It contains also vitamins B, D, E, cellulose, carotene, mineral salts. Bake bread which has good tastes of rye flour and on many signs does not concede, and sometimes exceeds wheat. Consumption of rye bread prevents heart diseases: contains in rye flour linoleic and other fatty acids necessary for warm activity.
Rye flour and bran - the valuable concentrated forages. Winter rye is sowed on a green forage, from it make an early silo, hay. Winter rye has the increased cold resistance, intensively grows in the spring and will better give rise in those regions where winter wheat freezes separate years.
