The rotary evaporator (Rotavapor) - a device for the rapid removal of liquids by distillation under reduced pressure. Widely used in chemical laboratories for evaporation of solvent from mixtures of substances, as well as for separating liquids.
The principle on which is based their action is to increase the surface evaporable liquid by rotation of the flask into which is placed extractor.
A flask with evaporated liquid rotating in an inclined position about its axis, is attached to the water cooler or ice cold trap and then to a vacuum source . When rotating the flask at its inner surface continuously formed liquid film , and the outer surface is uniformly heated at a bath. Under these conditions, overheating and boiling of the fluid is eliminated and evaporation, due to the large surface is very fast.
