Red prussiate of potash (red blood salt, ferricyanide of potassium, potassium geksatsianoferriat) K3 [Fe(CN)6] - dark red rhombic crystals; aqueous solution of yellow-greenish coloring; on light gradually decays with formation of K4 [Fe(CN)6]. In alkaline condition red prussiate of potash is strong oxidizer (especially when heating). When heating with diluted sulphuric acid decays with release of cyanhydric acid, at action of the concentrated H2SO4 carbon monoxide is emitted.

Receiving
Receive red prussiate of potash (potassium hexacyanoferrate) oxidation of K4 [Fe(CN)6] chlorine in the muriatic environment, bromine or other strong oxidizer, for example, potassium permanganate.

Application
Red prussiate of potash (red blood salt, ferricyanide of potassium, potassium geksatsianoferriat) is used
• in the photo, as component of the tinting, bleaching, strengthening, weakening solutions in the photo,
• as electrolyte in hemotronny devices, component of electrolytes in galvanoplasty, reagent for detection of Fe2 +, Li + Sn2+, and also as strong oxidizer,
• in soil science, for qualitative test of gleying (salts of bivalent iron), etc.
