Description
The word papier mace has been derived from the French word that means the molding pulp. But in Kashmir its "KARI QALAMDANE" knew it. Qalamdane means a pen case. Initially this art was restricted to the preparation of pen case only. The craft was also known as Kar-I-munaqqash, since it was used for ornamenting smooth surfaces made of pulp or layers of polished paper.
