Norway spruce Picea abies 60-100 C2Norway spruce (ordinary) - the coniferous tree, most widespread in Europe. Its area is so extensive that does not affect only the North German Plain and the British Isles. Under favorable conditions the tree can live till 400 flyings.
Cultivation of Norway spruce
Sandy, loamy, fertile, slightly wet soils are preferable. Transfers short-term flooding, but does not suffer long stagnation of water. It is steady against shading, but resuming requires sufficient lighting. Resistance to frosts is caused by thin scales which protect kidneys from frosts. Perfectly transfers hairstyle, but suffers from the contaminated air though itself possesses the phytoncidal, ionizing properties. Because of superficial system of arrangement of roots the tree is afraid of windfalls.
Very often shoots can develop on the fallen trunk or the collapsing stub. It is explained by the fact that the plant can acquire nitric connections. The mycorhiza (symbiosis of fir-tree roots and edible pileate fungi) helps fir-trees to extract nutrients from the soil. Availability in fir groves of large number of boletus mushrooms is explained by mycorhiza.
Reproduction happens seeds or layers. At what the lower branches of tree take roots directly on the soil that is rarity for coniferous. But it is better to make multiple copies shanks and inoculation as at seed reproduction there is loss of characteristic decorative qualities.
