Nitric acid

Nitric acid - one of the most important products of chemical industry. For practical purposes use 30-60-nye aqueous solutions of nitric acid or 97-99% (the concentrated nitric acid).

- the most important area of its application - production of fertilizers: potash KNO3 saltpeter, NaNO3 sodium nitre, NH4NO3 ammonium nitrate, complex mineral fertilizers;
- as nitrating agent in production of explosive substances (glycerol trinitrate, trinitrotoluene, hexogen and so forth);
- as the oxidizing agent of two-component rocket fuels, for example, in mix with 1,1 dimethylhydrazine;
- as reagent in nitrose way of sulphuric acid production;
- for receiving nitrocellulose;
- for receiving aromatic nitro compounds - precursors of the dyes, pharmacological preparations and other connections used in thin organic synthesis;
- in metallurgy for etching and dissolution of metals, and also for division of gold and silver. Mix of the concentrated nitric and hydrochloric acids (ratio on volume 1:3) is called aqua regia, it dissolves even noble metals.
