Bitumastics serve for gluing of bituminous rolled roof coverings (glassine, roofing material), flooring of parquet, fastening wood-fiber and chipboards, polyvinyl chloride (PVC) tiles and linoleum on fabric underlying cause, and also colourings (plastering) of construction constructive elements for protection them from destructive influence of water. Bitumastics can be hot and cold.
Bituminous hot mastic
Bituminous hot mastic of factory production - the homogeneous mass consisting from bituminous the knitting, fibrous filler and antiseptic agent (sodium fluosilicate); its structure (in mass parts, m of h):
Mastic is issued in the whetstones weighing 20 +2 kg wrapped by paper. Before the use mastic is warmed to 150-160 °C that demands observance of safety regulationss and considerably complicates application. In this regard for fastening of facing materials use cold mastics more often.
At mastic production tonkoizmelchyonny asbestos and powdered lime are mixed with solvent (solar oil) and added to the warmed bitumen; the gluing ability of mastic is based on diffusion of solvent in adherents.
Bituminous and rubber mastic
Bituminous and rubber cold mastic Izol - the multicomponent weight consisting of construction oil asphalt (62 m of h), the comminuted rubber received when processing waste rubber (8 m of h), asbestos or talc as filler (7 m of h), the plasticizing additives - rosin and coumarone resin (on 3 m of h) and gasoline (17 m of h). Bituminous and rubber mastic is prepared continuous mixing of the main components at temperature 200-230ss during 1,5 - 4 h. The filler is added to the melted and partially dehydrated bitumen in the dried and loosened look; gasoline and rosin enter before the end of cooking, carefully mixing all weight before receiving homogeneous state. Mastic Izol can be applied also to fastening of cumaron tiles and rubber alkyd linoleum. The main lack of this mastic - rather slow curing.
Bituminous and turpentine mastic
Bituminous and turpentine cold mastic of Biski is produced industrially and represents mix of bitumen, solvents (turpentine and white spirit), portland cement (M500) and synthetic latex. Ready mastic has to be homogeneous, without foreign substances and have certain consistence (corresponding to immersion of wooden pestle weighing 12 g, with a diameter of 10 mm on depth of 25 mm during 5 h). Before works mastic needs to be mixed carefully. If the consistence of mastic is lower admissible, then it should be warmed up up to the temperature of 30-40 °C. Mastic is intended for gluing of PVC of tiles and linoleum on fabric underlying cause; it is put with layer 0,35 mm thick. Before laying of covering the adhesive coat is maintained within 30-40 min.
Bituminous and rubber mastic is applied generally to fastening of fiber boards and PVC of linoleum on fabric underlying cause.
