 Ligature metallurgy - auxiliary alloys which are added to the melts of metals, alloys or powders to impart certain properties of the solidified metal or high mechanical strength.

The composition of the ligatures:

• double fusion of the base metal,
• one or more additives, the content of which is greater than in the main part of the alloy.

Alloying using ligatures occurs more efficiently. With ligature can be introduced into the alloy volatiles or oxidation in air components, when added in its pure form is impossible.

Using ligatures refractoriness caused by the alloying elements in pure form it requires that the metal and causes overheating of its loss from the burn and increased gassing.

Assimilation of the alloying element above ligature and more stable than when it is introduced in pure form. Ligatures obtained by fusion of its constituent components, or by reduction of their ores, concentrates and oxides.
