Seed camelina (Samelina sativa L. ) is an annual plant from the cabbage family (Brassicaceae). The most common in the culture of spring camelina. This is an early ripening plant (vegetation period 65 - 90 days) with a herbaceous stem 40 to 80 cm high. The basal leaves are petiolate, the rest are sessile, lanceolate. Small pale yellow flowers are collected in an inflorescence - a brush. The fruit is a pear - shaped pod that cracks when ripe. Seeds are small (weight of 1000 seeds is 1.0 - 1.5 g), red - yellow, oval - elongated. Camelina oil, thanks to essential fatty acids such as linoleic and linolenic, is extremely beneficial for health.
