Geksametafosfat of sodium
represents vitreous transparent or white powder. Differs in good solubility in water and ability to form soluble complexes with calcium, magnesium, barium and other metals. It is hygroscopic - on air blurs and hydrated, turning at first into a pyrophosphate, and then into sodium ortho-phosphate.It is the most concentrated phosphate from industrially let out phosphates. Possesses the good adsorptive and dispersing properties.
Density is 2,48 g/cm ³. Temperature of melting is 408 °C.
Chemical formula: Na6P6O18.
Geksametafosfat of sodium receive dehydration or melting of a mononatriyfosfat in the muffle furnaces with fast cooling of fusion.
Use of polyphosphate of sodium allows to increase service life of pipelines and filters thanks to its anticorrosive properties.
Besides, sodium hexametaphosphate technical is widely applied:
- in chemical industry, as inhibitor of salts, as a component of detergents (for example the Calgon);
- in the textile industry, for the prevention of education on fabrics of calcic salts;
- in oil industry, in technological processes of drilling of wells at a filtration of pulps and solutions;
- in pulp and paper industry, he participates in various technological processes of production of paper.
Thanks to property to slow down chemical reactions, in the food industry polyphosphate of sodium is known as a food additive E-452 inhibitor. Technological functions: the stabilizer, the emulsifying salt, the moisture-holding agent, a coloring clamp, synergist of antioxidants, food for yeast.
It is applied by production of the meat and fish tinned and quick-frozen products to improvement of texture, and also by production of processed cheeses as a soleplavitel. One or in combination with other stabilizers is applied in production of cream, condensed milk, dry milk and cream.

Sodium polyphosphate technical is fire and explosion-proof, is not toxic. Inhalation of dust can cause irritation of mucous membranes and airways. Work with a product has to be carried out in special clothes and in individual means of protection of respiratory organs, eyes and integuments.
Packing, transportation and storage.
Sodium polyphosphate technical is packed into polypropylene bags weighing 25-50 kg, and also into plywood drums, barrels plywood and stamped with a net weight no more than 60 kg.
Transport a railway, motor and water transport in the covered vehicles with observance of rules of transportation of the dangerous freights operating on this type of transport. By rail the packed production is transported car sendings in the covered cars. In transit hexametaphosphate of sodium it is necessary to preserve it against hit of moisture and heating.
Store in a standard original packing in the closed not heated warehouse. At storage it is necessary to avoid influence of heat and damage of packing.
Period of storage - 6 months from the date of production.
