Origin: created by the method of individual selection of highly productive plants from the Stavropol wild - growing populations.

Botanical characteristics: a plant of the winter type of development. The bush is erect, loose, the stems are rounded, without pubescence, up to 115 - 120 cm long. Leaves are linear, rough at the edges, shiny on the underside, up to 22 - 32 cm long. The tongue is very short, dense, without cilia. Inflorescence - panicle, compressed, during flowering - sprawling, ovate - oblong shape, up to 20 - 28 cm long, awnless. Spikelets are linear - oblong, 8 - 10 - flowered. The fruit is an oblong caryopsis, lanceolate, convex from the back. The root system is fibrous.

Biological features: growing season for hay: from the beginning of spring regrowth to the first cut - 78 days, from the first cut to the second - 53 days; for seeds - 100 days. High bushiness. After mowing or grazing by animals, it grows back well. The variety has good drought and winter hardiness. The variety is resistant to brown and yellow rust, powdery mildew. The seeds germinate quickly and give fast - growing shoots that are resistant to root rot disease. Pasture resistant.

Main advantages: hay - pasture type of use. Gives two cuttings and aftermath 25 - 35 cm high. In the third decade of April it reaches pasture ripeness.

Productivity: yield of green mass 318 c / ha, hay - 87 c / ha, seeds - 5.5 c / ha. Leafiness at the first mowing is 63 - 75% , at the second - 85 - 90% . Hay contains 13 - 14% protein. The Stavropolskaya 20 variety can be used for hay and pastures for 10 years or more.

Peculiarities of cultivation: seeding rate for seeds with wide - row sowing with row spacing of 70 cm - 8 - 10 kg / ha, with continuous sowing - 12 kg / ha; for hay - 16 - 18 kg / ha. The seeding depth is 2 - 3 cm.
