The fan this mechanical device intended for movement of air on air ducts of air conditioning systems and ventilation, and also for implementation of direct air supply to the room or a suction from the room, and creating difference of pressure necessary for this purpose.

Fans are divided by a design and the principle of action on axial (axial), radial (centrifugal), diametrical, etc. Terms and definitions in accordance with GOST 22270-76.
In size of the air of total pressure created when moving are divided into fans of low pressure (to 1 kPa), the average pressure (from 1 to 3 kPa) and the high pressure (from 3 to 12 kPa).
Fans of low pressure have wheels with the wide sheet shovels bent for bigger efficiency back are characterized by big and average rapidity. Air stream speed in such fans cannot be more than 50 m/s.
Shovels of fans of average pressure can be bent both in the direction of rotation of a wheel, and against the direction of rotation of a wheel. Air stream speed in fans of average pressure can reach 80 m/s.
Fans of high pressure are equipped with the narrow driving wheels resembling compressor superficially. Air stream speed in fans of high pressure can reach 200 m/s.
In the direction of rotation of the driving wheel fans can be the right rotation (the wheel rotates clockwise) and the left rotation (the wheel rotates counterclockwise) i.e. exhaust or stitched fans.
Driving wheels of fans on an inclination of an exit of shovels concerning the direction of rotation can be with the shovels bent forward recurved, and with radial shovels.
Depending on structure of the moved environment and conditions fans share on usual (for movement of nonaggressive gas or air with temperature up to 80 °C and dust content no more than 100 mg/m ³ not containing sticky and fibrous substances), corrosion-resistant (for movement of aggressive gas or air with a temperature up to 80 °C and dust content no more than 100 mg/m ³), heat-resistant (for movement of gases with a temperature from 80 to 200 °C), explosion-proof (for movement of the explosive mixes which are not containing explosive, fibrous and sticky substances which design excludes possibility of explosion in it during the normal work).
On an installation site are subdivided on usual, established on a special support (a frame, the base, etc.), channel, established directly in an air duct and roof, placed on a roof.

 

The main characteristics of the ventilating equipment are the following parameters:
- consumption of air, m3/h;
- total pressure, Pa;
- frequency of rotation, rpm;
- the power consumption spent for the drive of the fan, kW;
- the efficiency (E) of the fan considering mechanical losses of power on different types of friction in working bodies of the fan, volume losses as a result of leaks through consolidation and aerodynamic losses in a flowing part of the fan;
- level of sound pressure, dB.
