Cringle, also its version a blochka — the metal or plastic plug installed in leather haberdashery, shoe sewing and other products, paper for strengthening of edges of the openings which are used for threading of ropes, cords, a band, cables etc. In fact, is a kind of a rivet with an opening.
Historically the term came from sailing business: a cringle is called the opening in a sail which is swept off by a thread or strengthened by a metal ring which serves for threading of parts in it a standing or running rigging.
The technology is widely applied in an advertizing: about a half of all banners fasten cringles, and at production of banners through streets cringles are used almost everywhere. It is applied also at production of belts on a leather basis fabric (less often). Also it is used in creation of parachute systems, by production of different types of awnings (for tourism, for rest and commerce, on trucks, etc.), in shoe production, office-work (a broshyurovka and sealing of papers), etc.
