Types of gas cylinders

For storage and transportation of helium use helium cylinders. They can be distinguished on brown coloring and a large inscription of white Helium color. The main application of helium cylinders is based that helium is much lighter than air. Fill with it balloons and other devices for aeronautics. Any cylinder with helium has to correspond to state standard specification. The case of such cylinders is manufactured of carbonaceous steel and has the cylindrical form. Below the case comes to an end with the spherical bottom. For a possibility of operation of a cylinder in vertical position the boot is used. The top spherical part of a cylinder is called a mouth. In it the gate for controlled supply of gas is installed. The protective cap is surely provided in a complete set of new cylinders.

Each helium cylinder in the top part has marking. In it the sign of manufacturer, unique number of a cylinder, its date of production, term of the following check, working and trial pressure, mass of a cylinder is noted. The mass of a cylinder is measured without gate and a cap.

Any acetylene cylinder has to have standard appearance (a cylindrical form with the bottom and a mouth of spherical shape). The acetylene cylinder is painted by enamel paint of white color and marked by the inscription "Acetylene".

Externally oxygen cylinder represents the cylinder from carbonaceous steel with the bottom in the form of the sphere and a throat. That it could stand steadily in vertical position, the boot is put on the bottom. On inside of a throat the conic carving by means of which the gate from brass fastens is put. During transportation and during storage for protection of the gate use a protective cap which is established on a mouth. To storage and transportation of argon apply a cylinder argon which is absolutely safe at operation and does not demand performance of special conditions when moving. It is made of carbonaceous steel and has the cylinder form with a spherical bottom. On its lower part the boot which holds a cylinder in vertical position fastens. The top of a cylinder is called a mouth and has also spherical shape. To its internal part the gate fastens, and the cap which carries out protective function is put on an external surface. All argon cylinders are painted in gray color and have an inscription of green color "Argon Pure". Gas contains in a cylinder under pressure of about 14,7 MPas therefore the case has to maintain certain loadings and possess necessary properties. All operating cylinders pass certification of times in five years during which they are opened, study an internal surface and check for durability. After that apply a brand about recertification on a cylinder. Spaciousness of a cylinder, as a rule, makes 40 l, 10 l or 5 l

To transportation and storage of nitrogen apply nitric cylinders. They are constantly used in vegetable storehouses, by production of the oxidized products, for pumping of combustible liquids, in certain areas of creation of electronics. Often they are applied during creation of packings. Externally nitric it is easy to distinguish a cylinder from other cylinders. It has black coloring with the bright yellow inscription "Nitrogen". Make such products always of a steel pipe. Its top and lower parts have spherical shape. For acceptance of a steady position put on a boot a cylinder. The top part (mouth) is equipped with the gate and a ring. For protection of the gate new cylinders are completed with a protective cap. Cylinders with welding mix. Such gases as argon and carbonic acid which can have various percentage ratio are a part of welding mix. Such mix is used during welding for creation of the protective environment.

For storage and transportation of welding mix special cylinders are used. They are made according to requirements of state standard specification and happen various capacity. The case of a cylinder is always manufactured of a steel seamless pipe. Except the cylindrical case from carbonaceous steel, the cylinder has the spherical bottom which is fixed in a special metal boot. By means of this boot the steady position of a cylinder in a storage time and operation is provided. In the top spherical part of a cylinder (mouth) on a female thread the gate which regulates mix supply is installed. For protection of the gate the protective cap is provided. Cylinders with welding mix can be operated within forty years, but each five years it is necessary to carry out their recertification.

Cylinders with compressed air are painted in black color and marked by an inscription of white color "Compressed air". Air is in them under pressure of about 14,7 MPas therefore each cylinder is made according to norms. Each cylinder with compressed air has the case from carbonaceous steel of a cylindrical form. The bottom of a cylinder has spherical shape and is established in a special boot which is necessary for preservation of vertical position. The top part of a cylinder also has spherical shape and is called a mouth. The female thread on which the gate is installed is provided in it, and the protective cap outside fastens.

It is necessary to pass recertification each five years. During its carrying out the condition of a cylinder is examined and test for durability is carried out. After its carrying out special is branded. It is strictly forbidden to use the cylinders which did not pass recertification. During the transporting and operation of cylinders with compressed air it is necessary to observe the raised care measures.
