Expanding markets for tea traders
Hong Kong is the centre of the tea trading world. Its proximity to Asia's great tea producing regions and its world-class supporting infrastructure create the ideal tea trading hub. Hong Kong is a great consumer of tea but has no tea production of its own, making it an impartial and effective trading conduit.
HKTDC Hong Kong International Tea Fair is the flagbearer for Hong Kong's pre-eminent position in tea trading, bringing together industry players from all over the world as vendors and buyers of tea, processed tea and all kinds of tea-related products.
Stimulating the market for tea
A variety of events create an exciting atmosphere at the Hong Kong International Tea Fair. These events promote tea culture, broaden the knowledge base of participants and increase consumption of tea by reaching out to the public on the last day of the fair.
The International Tea Industry Conference will be addressed by experts familiar with global tea markets, while a seminar programme will enlighten on subjects such as branding and marketing. The importance of tea in daily life is also highlighted in the Tea Forum Series of seminars.
Creating a buzz at the fair is the Tea Competition 2013. HKTDC will continue the tradition by inviting exhibitors to participate in five categories: aged tea, black tea, green tea, oolong tea & pu'er tea. Prizes will be presented at the fair's Tea Networking Reception which also provides exhibitors and buyers a platform to mingle and to exchange expertise.
The International KamCha Competition 2013 (Hong Kong-Style Milk Tea) International Final will attract regional winners from different countries vying for the championship.
Tea Tasting Sessions are an integral part of the fair, and so are presentations of tea culture events in the International Tea Art Performances. There will also be a tea culture corner, Tea Gallery, where artistic tea-related items and books will be displayed.
