Grassy plant long-term with radical ovoid and lanceolate dlinnochereshkovy leaves. The rhizome shortened with a lobe of thin shnurovidny roots. Tsvetonos 10-50 cm of height, the naked, bearing on itself dense ear from ordinary-looking brownish flowers. Leaves are dlinnochereshkovy, are collected in the radical socket, shirokoyaytsevidny, lanceolate, smooth-edged with 3-9 arcuate veins, up to 20 cm long, up to 10 cm wide, located usually on the earth for moisture preservation. If there is a lot of moisture, leaves are understood for evaporation of excess water. A fruit - an ovoid mnogosemyanny box; seeds are angular, brown. One plant contains about 60 thousand seeds.
