High-speed tool steel contains tungsten, chrome and vyanadiya.

High-speed tool steel is intended for production of tools with a big resistance to wear from which preservation of the cutting properties when heating during an operating time up to the temperature about 600 Pages is required.

High-speed tool steel unlike carbonaceous and alloy tool steel has the big resistance to wear and bigger heat resistance.

Fast-cutting tool steel have almost completely forced out carbonaceous and low-alloy steels now. From high-alloy quick cutting steels produce all types and standard sizes of tools for satisfaction of requirements of machining workshops of engineering works.

High-speed tool steel in comparison with carbonaceous and alloyed tool stalyam has the higher content of additives of chrome, tungsten, vanadium and molybdenum. These additives, especially tungsten and molybdenum, give to quick cutting steel high wear resistance and heat resistance. Steel keeps the necessary hardness and the cutting properties at a temperature approximately to 600 and allows use of cutting speeds on average by 2 5 - 3 times higher, than when cutting carbonaceous and alloyed tool stalyam.

High-speed tool steel contains a large amount of tungsten (or molybdenum), chrome, vanadium. These became along with rather high hot hardness (red hardness) have also the increased durability. The tool from quick cutting steels can be used both for draft, and for finishing. Increase in carbon content in the shirokorasprostranenny quick cutting steel containing 18% of tungsten, 4% of chrome and 1% of vanadium leads to increase in its hardness and decrease in durability; steel with the increased carbon content should be applied to production of the tool which is cutting off shavings of small section. However at the same time tendency of steel to chipping increases and its polishing is at a loss. The alloying vanadium usually demands increase in carbon content for ensuring required hardness.
