Bark pine (mulch) is irreplaceable, multipurpose natural material and serves as excellent top dressing to plants. A mulch, decaying to a condition of a humus, feeds the soil. Plants, in turn, take so many nutrients how many for them it is necessary. The mulch suppresses growth of weeds, some even completely, and that single which will break through, will be slowly growing and sickly. To carry out weeding of such weeds occupation less labor-consuming, than to weed not mulched site.

Under the mulching layer the crust is not formed; the mulch protects the earth from washout by a superficial drain of water and reduces spraying. The mulch protects the soil from excessive evaporation, eliminates sharp fluctuations of temperature: in the summer the soil heats up less, and damp and cool conditions at roots of plants are more favorable for their growth; in the winter the soil keeps heat better, its frost penetration decreases.

Also, the shelter of the soil bark contains growth and development of some wreckers and diseases. Mulchirovany soils bark, 5-8 cm thick, protects it from settling by may-bugs. Females of a cockchafer, in turn, are not able to lay eggs. Application of a mulch in fight against bugs is especially actual in the nurseries which are growing up ornamental coniferous plants. For strawberry and wild strawberry yields good results mulchpokr from coniferous bark of small fraction and compost, creating protection of berries against pollution by the time of harvesting and impacting them special relish and aroma. In large numbers bark is not applied to vegetable plants as contains tannins and does inaccessible soil nitrogen, but in small amounts (up to 2 cm thick) bark of small fraction considerably can improve structure of the soil and increase productivity of vegetables.

The microclimatic conditions arising under bark are favorable for development of earthworms who promote increase in fertility of the soil, improvement of its structure and air permeability. The mulch from bark is especially useful coniferous, a heather and to rhododendrons as it contains a mushroom mikoriza without which these plants develop worse.
