Asbestos hrizotilovy is a natural fine-fibered white or chartreuse mineral of a class of silicates (3MgO · 2SiO2 · 2H2O) with silky gloss, forming streaks which have a cross and fibrous structure with a length of fibers from millimeter shares, to 5-6 cm (occasionally to 16 cm) less than 0,0001 mm thick. Proceeding from thickness and length of fibers asbestos hrizotilovy is divided into eight groups: 0; 1 - 7. Asbestos of groups 0 - 6 is divided into brands depending on the fractional structure determined by method of a dry rassev on the control device from four sit. Asbestos of the 7th group is divided into brands depending on the filled density.

Construction asbestos is applied to thermoinsulating coverings, to production of an asbokarton and other products.
Working temperature of asbestos hrizotilovy reaches +500 °C, at further temperature increase it loses the properties and becomes fragile, reaching +1500 °C begins to melt.

Asbestos hrizotilovy is resistant in neutral and alkaline environments, but decays in acids with formation of amorphous gel of silicon dioxide.
