Surprisingly, this helmet, the SSH - 40, designed in 1938, is still in service with the Russian army and not only. This speaks of a well - chosen design, which has undergone few changes over the past 80 years. The six - rivet model replaced the not so successful SSh - 36. The Italian M33 helmet was chosen as a prototype by the Soviet developers. The model is made of steel with a thickness of 1.9 mm, weighs 1250 g.
The liner is a 3 - piece leatherette construction. On the reverse side of the petals, there are damping cotton wool pads covered with fabric. Each petal is attached to the helmet with 2 rivets. The upper part of the petals is pulled together with a cord. Woven ribbon chinstrap with square buckle for customization. 2 - point belt fastening.
Flanging along the edge of the model gives it additional rigidity. The helmet allows you to wear it on a winter headgear, use a headset and mobile communications. The helmet was produced in the USSR, supplied from military storage facilities and will be of interest to fans of military events reconstruction.
