Accumulators of steam are intended for alignment of fluctuations by production and consumption of steam. Very often accumulators of steam are called steam collectors.

Steam accumulator - it additional capacity for the boiler in which is stored water at the same temperature and with the same pressure, as in a copper. Steam which came to water space of the accumulator is condensed, and as its pressure is slightly higher, than in the accumulator, it heats water. The last evaporates from the water volume therefore vapor pressure in steam space increases. So accumulator charging proceeds. The discharge of the accumulator is carried out by evaporation of water at pressure decline in the accumulator.

Steam accumulator horizontal (steam collector) represents a horizontal cylindrical vessel of a welded design and consists of the case with the elliptic bottoms welded on it. The cylindrical case of the accumulator is installed on the support providing freedom to thermal expansions.

On the case of the accumulator are provided the union for the safety valve, giving and selection of steam, the manometer, the thermometer, the index of level, a kondensatootvodchik, a drainage. Before a branch pipe of selection of steam the separation device is located.

At accumulator charging, steam moves in water volume by means of a horizontal distributive pipe with the openings directed obliquely to a vertical axis. Steam through openings escapes in the form of separate streams, causing vigorous water flow from below up. Thanks to it good circulation of water and uniform distribution of temperature on all volume of the accumulator is created.
