Air coolers are generally used where the use of other cooling systems is technically not possible or not desirable from an economic point of view and are designed for cooling and condensing the gaseous, vapor, and liquid media in processes refining, petrochemical and related industries.
Major manufacturing companies of various industries, located far from natural water sources need cooling process liquids, vapors and gases. For these purposes, use special heat-exchange systems - air coolers. Depending on the purpose of air cooling apparatus divided into condensers, gas coolers, liquid coolers, oil coolers.
There are two versions of air coolers - machines with natural air convection through the heat exchanger and apparatus with forced air circulation, which is carried out by means of fans. Air coolers with forced air circulation are used much more often, as their efficiency is much higher. Natural convection heat exchangers are used in special cases where the software processes require small air velocities, for example in some types of cooling chambers.
Air coolers depending on the location of the heat exchange section are divided into the following types:
- horizontal;
- vertical;
- V-shaped;
- zigzag.
Type medium to be cooled and its pressure is a key factor in choosing the material pipe air cooler.
For the manufacture of pipes used materials such as carbon and alloy steel, stainless steel, copper, aluminum, titanium and their alloys.
The ribs are made of carbon steel, copper, aluminum and their alloys.
Air cooling devices that are installed in areas where there is exposure to aggressive environments (marine and humid climate, industrial area), need additional protection surfaces. For this purpose various coatings ribs (blades) or the heat exchanger sections as a whole. High pressure cooling medium require special attention to the quality of the pipe connections. For steel pipes used precision welding, copper pipes are joined by soldering.
