In gold mining active coal is applied to extraction of gold cyanides. For the similar purposes the coal received from coconut shell as it optimum conforms to requirements for hardness and the adsorptive characteristics is used.

One more scope of active coal - those cigarette filters. As such coal is capable to delete selectively some components of gas phase from smoke, fine - grained active coal is widely used as one of filter components practically by all producers of cigarettes.
