Physical properties
Colourless liquid with a spirit smell, mixes up with water and forms with it azeotropny mix (t. kip. 87, 5 — 88, 0 °C, 71, 8% on the mass of a 1 - propanol). Let's dissolve in ethanol , ethyl oxide , acetone , benzene and other organic solvents.
Application
1 - Propanol apply as solvent to vosk, polyamide ink, natural and synthetic pitches, polyacrylonitrile; in production of polyethylene of low pressure; for receiving a karbometoksitsellyuloza; as degreaser of metals; sorastvoritel of polyvinylchloride adhesives; the gelatinating and plasticizing agent of tsellyuloznoatsetatny films; alkiliruyushchy agent. It is used also for synthesis of propionic acid , propionic aldehyde, propyl acetate, a propilamin, surfactant , pesticides , some pharmaceutical preparations.
